The Jewish Museum Trondheim presents the exhibition project “The Map in Nerbyen”.
Did you know that in the period 1880-1942, close to 150 Jewish-owned businesses were started in Trondheim.

Unfortunately, this history is, so to speak, erased from the cityscape, and from the memory of most people
Trondheim citizens. At the Jewish Museum, we want to do something about that. Therefore
we are now launching the exhibition project “The Map in Nerbyen”. The project consists of small
illuminated signs that we have placed in the shop windows of current shops on it
the address where a Jewish-owned shop used to be located. They must stand there as little ones
reminders of a time gone by, and testify to the extent of Jewish influence on
this particular district.

On the signs there is brief information about the Jewish-owned shop that used to be located
there. At the bottom of the sign, there is a reference to the Jewish Museum’s website: There you will find one
own page with more information about the project and exciting stories about the families
who lived and ran a shop in Nerbyen.
At the opening you will find out more about the project, and you will receive a lecture where you will find out more
about the families who ran shops here: Who were they? Who were their customers? And which ones
traces did they leave?
